The Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) has introduced administrative and statutory measures, which must be adhered to, by all bargaining council’s, for resolving disputes. The CCMA utilises these measures as a basis for evaluating whether bargaining council’s meet the accreditation criteria, set out in section 127 (4) of the Labour Relations Act 66 of 1995 (LRA), as amended
In its’ strive, to achieve the CCMA efficiencies and consequently renew its CCMA accreditation, the Council will be hosting Panellists’ Workshops. The ultimate objective of conducting these workshops is to capacitate the panellists, who are primarily involved in dispute resolution, to ensure that disputes are finalised expeditiously and postponements minimised, in order to achieve the CCMA efficiency targets and subsequently gain accreditation, for the Council to continue providing dispute and collective bargaining services to the public sector.
The workshops will provide an opportunity for the Council to engage the panellists on the following administrative challenges:
- Submission of late awards;
- Challenges experienced during the vetting process;
- Panellist Code of Conduct;
- Issuing of conciliation certificates and the extension of conciliations;
- Withdrawn and settled matters;
- Outcome reports for proceedings;
- Recording during the proceedings and submission of recordings; and
- Submission of invoices.
